Esprit Triathlon in September

Esprit Triathlon in September

Postby Sheila » Mon Jun 19, 2017 3:17 pm

Hello Everyone,

I thought I would start a new discussion thread in case it motivates anyone to join in.

I am registered for the Olympic Distance triathlon in Parc Jean Drapeau on September 17th. My niece (Kim) will be doing her first Sprint triathlon on the same day.

It is a good triathlon to do as a first. The swim water is calm and if you look straight down you will notice some small ropes that are in a straight line that you can follow along with. The bike is flat (around circuit Gilles Villeneuve) and a nice flat run (around the basin). It is fun!

Come try it!

September 10 or September 17?

Be forewarned:

If you are planning on cycling on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, there will be many days during the summer months when it is not open to cyclists. When Evenko is hosting a concert, they will shut down the circuit. So if you are doing the triathlon and want to check out the cycling circuit ahead of time, check the schedule before you head over.

Correction September 10th (thanks Judi)

I have no intention of training at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve before hand. Thanks for the heads up though!

I like the timing of this event. You still have time to recover for fall race.
It's local !
I would have signed up however I'm away Sept 10.

Since I was there and looking up my results, I thought I would post everyone's for this event. Sorry if I missed you! There are so many races and people there, it is impossible to see everyone. I saw a few of you ever so briefly but none of you actually doing the event.

Sprint distance: (no particular order)

Adrielle Houwelling: 1:25:46 (way to go!)
Alex Gombos: 1:18:20 (apparently married life agrees with you!)
Bernard Courville: 1:31:29 excellent for someone who used to be allergic to the swim!

Olympic Distance:

Gilles Doire: 2:21:34 (good for a guy with a plantar Fascia problem... actually... even if you weren't injured it is a great time!

Brian Price: 2:45:47 (good job and improved time from last year so he says)
Johanna Price: 3:06:23 (very solid and strong! Also an improvement from last year)!
Sheila (moi): 2:40:34 (3rd in age group! Must work on my transition times!)

I hope I didn't miss anyone but feel free to add to it!
